Return on Investment
Yes, quantifying the return on your investment in design services is just about as slippery as proving or disproving ROI for your marketing operation. No matter what anybody tells you, it's darned tricky. But here's how we nail the jello to the wall.
Internet Marketing
Our approach to ROI analytics will vary depending on the particular objectives of your internet marketing program. We've served nonprofit organizations, startups, small retail operations and industry-leading companies, and we've learned that there is no "killer app" for tracking marketing effectiveness. But there are a few basics.
- Conversions Are Good
It's a beautiful thing when somebody who has been looking at your stuff reaches the tipping point and actually buys something. Or, if what you're after is sales leads for a big ticket item, your new convert has sent that inquiry email. Using industry-standard systems, we can provide simple, straightforward conversion tracking options that will help you know how effective your site is or isn't in actually reaching your goals. Conversions are the stuff, yeah. Take a look at this... - More Traffic = More Conversions
It's really not quite that simple, but basically you don't get milk from a light bulb. Attracting the right kind of site traffic is going to be a big deal in just about any internet marketing program. That means having high quality content that your prospects want, and optimizing it for search engines so they can find you. Meaningful content is the heart of it, and we can help you build it whether we're talking your own blog, or expert content from outside sources, or both. Lightloom will setup traffic tracking for you, and can show you how to get in-depth details about your visitors. - More Exposure = More Traffic
If content attracts traffic, exposure drives it. How? Links to your site that appear elsewhere along your prospects' internet travels. These may be banner advertising on other sites, search-triggered ads like Google AdSense, or, better still, free and nearly free links that get picked up through RSS syndication. And the greatest method of all is to get other sites to just put a gratis link to your site on theirs, and to forward your email materials to colleagues: spreading your message virally. We can track those referrals and let you know who's sending you business. Here's a funny example of one very contagious program... - Smart Design = More Exposure
How do you get other sites to drive traffic your way? "Link exchanges" or "link farms" are exactly the wrong way. The right way is "Value Add." When somebody else gives you a link, it's because they believe it adds value to their own site. One of our specialties is Widget Marketing. We can help you plant these traffic mines throughout your industry by offering those other sites something of value in return for placing your link. And, of course, every one of those exposures ("impressions") and every clickthough to your site can be tracked and reported. This is fun; look at something cool...
There's only one hard and fast rule: Get your money's worth from your web investment. Make design your selling partner.
